Kia Ora, Tena Koutou, Thank you for dropping in to read our Blog. We are a Year 3 & 4 Class at a brand new school of the future. Mission Heights School is situated at 103 Jeffs Road in Flatbush, Auckland, New Zealand. It is the coolest school in New Zealand which opened on 4th February 2009 and is leading the way in 21st century teaching and learning.
Learning Zone 12 is made up of 23 enthusiastic learners who come from many countries such as New Zealand, China, Korea, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Fiji, South Africa, Australia, England, Italy, Tonga and Samoa. Since 15th September we have a new teacher, Mrs Kree Raman, who previously taught at Kelvin Road School in Papakura and Eastdene Combined School in South Africa. Our teacher inspires us to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.

Our expectations of positive behaviour strongly reflect our school’s values about how we work and get on with others at this school. Our values are:

Walk smartly and quietly in line. 10. Keep our environment clean and green.

Virtue: Respect
Respect means treating others the way you would want to be treated. I show respect by asking permission before using someone else's things. I show respect for others even when they are different from me.
Virtue: Responsibility
Responsibility means being dependable and making good choices. I show responsibility when I take care of things that belong to me. When I take care of myself, I show responsibility.
Virtue: Integrity
Integrity means making choices that help you be the best person you can be. I show integrity when I do what I think is right. When I work at being the best I can be I show integrity.
Virtue: Citizenship
Citizenship means obeying the rules and working to make your community a better place. I show good citizenship when I help keep my community clean. I am a good citizen when I obey the rules.
Virtue: Self-Discipline
Self-discipline means thinking about your words and actions and then making choices that are right for you and others. I show self-discipline when I accept that things do not always go my way. I show self-discipline when I finish my chores before playing.
Virtue: Compassion
Compassion means being kind and thoughtful towards others. By helping others in need I show compassion.I show compassion when I do kind things for others.
Virtue: Honesty
Honesty means being truthful and sincere.I show honesty when I do my own work.I show honesty when I return things that belong to others.

Trustworthiness means other people can count on you to do the right thing. I show trustworthiness when others count on me to do what I say I will do.I show trustworthiness by always returning items I have borrowed.
Virtue: Fairness
Fairness means taking turns, sharing and listening to what others have to say. I show fairness when I take only my share.I am fair when I play by the rules.
Virtue: Perseverence
Perseverance means working hard and not giving up. I show perseverance when I stick with something until it is finished. I show perseverance when I do not give up.

If you are being bullied or if someone is looking for trouble use your WITS: W = Walk away I = Ignore it T = Tell the teacher S = Stand up for yourself by saying: "Stop it, I don't like it!"

Mrs Kree Raman is a dedicated teacher and a life-long learner who was born in Durban, South Africa in 1966. She has taught at two Primary Schools over the past 20 years; Eastdene Combined School in Middelburg - South Africa (1989 - 2002) and Kelvin Road School in Papakura - New Zealand (2003-2009). Mrs Raman is an A+ teacher of the 21st century who is prepared to teach “Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, using Any device”. She enjoys learning, unlearning and relearning in this exciting digital age of the 21st century. Mrs Raman's passion is instilling in her students a lifelong love for Virtue, helping them to acquire and foster positive values such as Respect, Responsibility, Enquiry & Excellence. This will enable them to "do the right thing" so that they can become future-leaders and responsible citizens of Aotearoa and the world. She will encourage and inspire her students to be the best that they can be while having fun learning using a variety of 21st century technologies. Students will engage in social networking such as emailing, blogging and podcasting for a global audience. Mrs Raman believes that "Education is illumination and the journey of transformation."
